Coil processing is the transformation of steel coil into a variety of shapes and sizes. Common coil processing techniques are:

Cutting to length and slitting takes place when taking a wider master coil, and cutting (slitting) it into various width with rotary slitting knives. For cut-to-length applications are rotary shear or a flying shear can cut the coil to the desired sheet metal sizes.
